WPC: My Window Frame

Lagos Lagoon Lights by rubys polaroid

Morning Guys? 😀 Been a while hasn’t it but first…..

Happy Independence Day Nigeria (it’s on Oct 1st but better late than never)

.…now back to the post. Took a much needed blog break for about 3 weeks, didn’t post anything except read articles and posts from around the blogsphere. Creative Burn-Outs are real and a break is a good idea to ease up and get back into it.

So……today i’m posting on this week’s WPC topic: WINDOWS ;what do you see through yours?
Our eyes are windows to our souls and vice versa, so it’s also true that the photos we take and create are windows into our minds. My long exposure shoots are of the Lagos Lagoon the night before a morning rainstorm. The clouds are low and the lagoon glassy, mirroring the sky and city lights.

What interesting sight have you seen of recent that you would love to share ?

Natural Monday: Textured Seas

Warm waves by rubys polaroid

Some days are warm, slow and peaceful. Just like this . .

….And some days are rough, not the kind of days going to the beach comes to mind. The biting wind rushing into every gap between your clothes and skin isn’t heartwarming and neither is the tingling cold water but that’s life not every day is smooth sailing.
That is what gives life Texture.
The WordPress Photo Challenge this week is TEXTURE, find it all round you and say or show what it means.

Thursday Sunset: Glass Ball

Glass Ball Sunset by rubys polaroid

It’s not the end of the day till the sun sets, and that goes without saying.
So when last did you sit and enjoy a beautiful sunset. We are so focused on the grind that we lose touch, slow down and appreciate the little things sometimes everything doesn’t have to be in focus to be beautiful.

It’s #TGIF tomorrow, any plans for the upcoming long weekend?

WPC: Beach Wanderlust

Where have i been lately? Well for one quite busy with a good friend’s wedding and the Open House Lagos Weekend Project. Two events close to my heart, Weddings are always a bubble of emotions and it makes it all the more touching when they were both my classmates throughout my Bachelors Degree and also colleagues in Masters at the same University.
The theme for WPC is Wanderlust, bring out shots that inspire the traveler in us. Well i haven’t traveled out of state of recent so i’ll be posting a beach shot i took during my few moments alone in nature. Nature shots always have that lost in time quality that make us feel the moment even if we are miles away and i hope this shots do just the same.

WPC: Rain Drop Surprises

Happy Easter

It’s in the holiday spirit that i’m posting a rain inspired shot. Its been raining alot in Lagos the past week one can’t help thinking they are showers of blessings to go along with the Easter tones of repentance and hope.
Photography is a thing of guts, sometimes you just know a shot will look good you might not know how good but sometimes you shot surprises you more than you could have thought. My shot at first glance was ordinary but when i converted it to Monochrome it really stood out. Have you been surprised by something unexpectedly good of recent?

WPC: Last Shine

Morning folks 😀 and how was your weekend?
….So, the US elections are officially breathing down our necks and everyone has their fingers crossed while the opposing teams sling the last few low mud pies before election day. *shuffles papers* That’s all folks on the general news update and now onto the photos of the day.

Merging 2 posts in one (WPC and Natural Monday) my shots today are of the last minutes of daylight with the huge orange sun just at the horizon edge. A small canoe was going out for fishing so i timed my shot just as they passed by.
The colours are muted not your typical storm-cloud sunset but i feel sometimes a clear sky sunset has it’s own minimalist beauty.

WPC: BW Beach Waves

‘Better late than never’ is a worn out saying but as is the thing with ancient words they never lose their meaning. This post was supposed to come out on Tuesday as a double dose of WPC and Cee’s BW Photo Challenge: Liquid…..but oh well *shrugs*.
So here and now i bring to you my take on the water theme in my favorite medium; Black and White.

Took my camera out on a cold, windy day. The storm was right around the corner, perfect for wave shots 🙂 but mehn my knees took a hard one trying to stay still aenough to take them. By the way this where all handheld shots.
