Natural Monday: Soul Silence

Framed Sunset by rubys polaroid

Silence doesn’t have a sound, it’s the absence of sound. Sounds define our world, the wind rushing through car horns blaring on the street. The ever present background hum of voices, sound is everywhere but sometimes your ears go silent not because the world is silent but your soul is crying so loud for what it has lost every other sound gets drowned out.

Took this shot 2 days before the New Year, the sun was setting and it felt like the year was saying goodbye. The dusty air and cold haze acted like a blanket for the sun, and this was the only peek i had of the one of the last sunsets of 2017. Lots of wishful thinking went on in 2017 for me but i’ll try to make the most of this year (hopefully) and not spend it dreaming like last year.

Hi guys, how was your week? have you started on the ever long Christmas Shopping list.

It’s just 8days to Christmas *big grin*, that means work break and lots to eat and drink.  Parties and gathering around every corner,  by far the most tedious part of the year (-__-) .

This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge is ASCEND. My take on it goes with the endless cycle of New Year goals or Resolution. Ascending from one level to another takes focus (inner compass) to stay on track and make it to the top.

My shot shows what it feels like to stand at the beginning and see your end goal all the way up there.

What’s your take on goal setting / New year Resolutions?

City Hall Lagos Rooftop 2 by rubys polaroid

It’s not everyday you get access to a buildings rooftop especially in Lagos. It’s dusk and the cool ocean breeze slides over buildings, through streets and into the minds and homes of the city and in Lagos the cool is always welcome. ALWAYS!!!
It’s the Launch Party of Lagos Biennial and honesty i went there more for the opportunity to bask in the open cold air of the evening than the photo party and eccentric music, i did enjoy the music tho.

Eclectic was the word and the tunes where right my alley but my accomplice a rogue typical lasgidi gal didn’t care for Electronic Music or the likes and kept her round eyes glued to her phone all evening. sigh
Today’s WPC Theme is SERENE and what better way to enjoy the evening in a hot, chaotic city than escape to the rooftop. From my perch high up Lagos feels calm, pink hue clouds and cold blue skies all round it really doesn’t feel like the sweltering, noisy beast it usually is. (Motorists and civilians in Lagos will attest to this)

My take on the challenge. Link to the main challenge below

P.S- Did a Black&White conversion to one of the images. What do you think?

Lightning Bolt by rubys polaroid

Morninggggggggg 😀 ,

I know it’s Monday but cheer up, it’s just for today……..and then the rest of your life (-__-). Today i’m focusing on something else asides the day, WPC over the weekend gave a theme for the Photo Challenge; GLOW.
Most photographers time their shots for early morning or late evening to get soft warm diffused light on their subject but that’s not the only time nature glows. It glows during a thunderstorm as well.

I got 2 beautiful shots of Lightning cracking through the skies last week and after looking at in on my laptop screen, i noticed they make the sky glow but in a vastly different way.
Do you agree or not?

Natural Monday: Awaiting Sunset

Cloud Streaks by rubys polaroid

Morning guys 😀 ,had a wonderful weekend talking biz and life with good friends. The WP Challenge was to show waiting, but how to do photograph a moment like that in nature.
It really got me thinking, maybe the slow drag of clouds across the sky will show the slow passing of time and the approaching sunset i was waiting for.
Waiting along a debris strewn beach for a warm sunset.

Steel Canopy Walkway Lagos by rubys polaroid

Its not often one gets to sway high in the air over a thick swamp forest. Well on a whim this past Friday i decided to go explore a local tourist spot in Lekki Lagos; Lekki Conservation Centre with the mind of walking the very much talked about Canopy Walkway.

OOOO….my GOD.

I’ll let the above exclamation define the experience. At a whooping 401 meters long (1315.62 Foot long) and at the highest point 22.5 meters high (73.8 foot high) it’s the longest Canopy Walkway in Africa and Second longest in the world…..Yikes!. In most cases i just shrug at the numbers and say i can’t be all that but on Friday i held my tongue right back, affixing it to the roof of my mouth throughout the walk….mostly anyway.
If you ain’t got mind don’t bother as you literally swing through the air, if your walking companions aren’t great on their feet. Luckily my group consisted of i and my troublesome friend Toyin, an old well rounded couple with the woman being of better courage than the man and a friendly guide that held his belly deep laughter throughout whilst walking without touching the rope. That was just plain cheating in my opinion *__*) .

Somewhere after crossing the first walkway i grew a second liver right under the quivering first and actually paused severally at the middle of 4 of the seven walkways to take shots 😀 . Below is a shot of the end of one of the several walkways, its really shiny steel and a marvel of design but i thought that up right when i got back to flat, un-moving ground  -__-) .

So, after listening to my Adventrue (Ordeal) what Shiny thing caught your eye of recent?

Natural Monday: Sunset Satisfaction

Blue, Blue Skies by rubys polaroid

Satisfaction is such a wide term cause it means so many things to different people but i’ll narrow my answer down to my daily inspiration and passion: PHOTOGRAPHY.
There are a dime and dozen photographers all over but the most important thing to any endeavor is the happiness and contentment you feel when you take a picture that takes your own breath away and that’s how i feel when i happen to catch a beautiful sunset. They happen everyday (well almost everyday…some days the clouds are really grey and angry -_-) ) but they are never the same. The sun sets in a different place everyday and the clouds will never be in the same place as yesterday.

That’s my own take on the WordPress Photo Challenge for this week. What gives you your daily/weekly dose of satisfaction?

Natural Monday: Green Landscapes

Morning guys, and welcome to a new month
…even more so to the 2nd half of 2017.

Going on trips has a way of expanding your mind beyond what you think you know. Always new possibilities and new experiences. Took a trip recently sponsored by Legacy1995ng and I’ve a ton of pics to share from it but to start, here are some landscape shots to start the week, month and rest of the year on a beautiful note.
