Cee BW Challenge: Abandoned Secretariat

What better way to host a Halloween party than at an abandoned secretariat with several high-rises in a large expanse of land close to a cemetery, lol.
This is my submission for Cee’s BW Photo Challenge with the theme- ABANDONED/ALONE.

This is just one arm of the large complex, its been abandoned for close to 26 years ever since the seat of the Federal Government moved in 1991 form Lagos to Abuja which was carved out of other states and designed to be the centre of power; The Civil Servant state.

WPC: Ascend With Purpose

Hi guys, how was your week? have you started on the ever long Christmas Shopping list.

It’s just 8days to Christmas *big grin*, that means work break and lots to eat and drink.  Parties and gathering around every corner,  by far the most tedious part of the year (-__-) .

This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge is ASCEND. My take on it goes with the endless cycle of New Year goals or Resolution. Ascending from one level to another takes focus (inner compass) to stay on track and make it to the top.

My shot shows what it feels like to stand at the beginning and see your end goal all the way up there.

What’s your take on goal setting / New year Resolutions?

City Hall Lagos Rooftop 2 by rubys polaroid

It’s not everyday you get access to a buildings rooftop especially in Lagos. It’s dusk and the cool ocean breeze slides over buildings, through streets and into the minds and homes of the city and in Lagos the cool is always welcome. ALWAYS!!!
It’s the Launch Party of Lagos Biennial and honesty i went there more for the opportunity to bask in the open cold air of the evening than the photo party and eccentric music, i did enjoy the music tho.

Eclectic was the word and the tunes where right my alley but my accomplice a rogue typical lasgidi gal didn’t care for Electronic Music or the likes and kept her round eyes glued to her phone all evening. sigh
Today’s WPC Theme is SERENE and what better way to enjoy the evening in a hot, chaotic city than escape to the rooftop. From my perch high up Lagos feels calm, pink hue clouds and cold blue skies all round it really doesn’t feel like the sweltering, noisy beast it usually is. (Motorists and civilians in Lagos will attest to this)

My take on the challenge. Link to the main challenge below

P.S- Did a Black&White conversion to one of the images. What do you think?

WPC: Human Scale

Happy Monday Morning 🙂
….not exactly what most people are feeling right now but One great thing about it is it comes only once a week, thank God for little mercies. .lol.
My WordPress Photo Challenge post today is on SCALE. Seems simple enough but it’s one secret ingredient to a good picture becoming great, that element of human scale.
It’s simply putting a human subject in frame to better tell your viewer how big, wide or otherwise tall your subject is.
Even on instagram, beautiful landscape shots have someone sitting backing you in the foreground and thus you appreciate how huge the mountains or how high up they took the pic and it gives depth as well.

I picked 3 images of different scenarios to show, no matter the context a human figure always makes a picture more relatable.

Hi guys,

…..And welcome to a beautiful New Week full of deadlines, traffic, more smog a bit more rain if you happen to live in Lagos and the regular crazy-ass road hogs (also known as public transport drivers (-__-))
Today my  Nature post is an Infrared Conversion of a shot taken at my Alma Mater; University of Lagos, the Engineering Department to be precise. The building right behind the statue is a lecture hall for combined classes.

Have An Awesome Week 😀

WPC: Sacred Heritage

Heritage
“valued objects and qualities such as historic buildings and cultural traditions that have been passed down from previous generations.”

Lagos has heritage, Culture and a Resilient people who have seen history and left their mark in so many ways. Historic buildings and sites litter the bustling city of Lagos and i had a great opportunity to visit them during the Open House Lagos 2017 Event. The SACRED SITES TOUR, even though short was a real eye opener.

The Holy Cross Cathedral is credited with being the birth place of Catholicism in Nigeria.
Check the link below on it’s birth and history of Catholicism in Nigeria.

Natural Monday: Sunset Strip

Hallo, and welcome to my Natural Monday post and i’ll digress here for a bit.

It’s EASTER…..Whoopeee!!!!!!!

I’m so happy for a little break coming up. I’ll get some time to myself and i’ll be able to start working on my addition to the first draft of my sci-fi novel. Actually Camp Nanowrimo for April is ongoing and sadly i’m behind but it’s never too late to start. Got any up coming Easter plans? share in the comments below 🙂
Today i’m posting sun-filled sunsets and pastel coloured cloud shots. Took them late last year when the sun set quite late and low allowing for dramatic sky lighting and orange toned clouds. Any thoughts on the
