Friday Late Post: Unpublished

A boy in a canoe by rubyspolaroid

Saturday…..Finally.

The week is finally over, on Wednesday morning as i peeled open my eyes to bright unwelcome sunlight, i felt like skipping over Thursday and Friday just to get to Saturday but Thursday came and i had a lil excursion/ Trip with a good friend and after a really long time i got to exercise my photography muscles and free my thoughts. Which brings us to today.

This blog was first a tester of my new camera then a therapy now i want it to a mini gallery of the photos i take that don’t fall into Architecture, which my Instagram account is for. If you haven’t checked it out, you are really missing great Archi shots of Lagos 🙂

Shameless Instagram Plug – @RubysPolaroid
To start off will be posting a little docu series on life in a slum boating community in Lagos.

Enjoy your weekend. Got any fun plans lined up?

WPC: Jobs are Temporary

My Attita Desk by rubys polaroid
What???  *exaggerated shock face* That has got to be some silly idea I came up with as a millennial. (I imagine that’s what flashed through your head when you read the title.)
….In all honesty really think about that title again………thought about it? Sadly that’s the truth.
You’ll never be at one job all the days of your breathing life, no job or position or title or place (yes,  places evolve over time) is permanent. We grow and change, our needs grow and change. So we have to decide what do we want out of that place/job? and make sure we get it when it’s time to leave, and that’s how I choose to interpret this week’s WPC theme: Temporary.
Above is a picture of my old desk,  in the span of a few days I changed desks and time and place. Same me but now with a different desk.
In what way have you exchanged something or somewhere old for a new one, share in the comments.
Have a lovely week ahead

WPC/Cee BW Challenge: Signs of Sleep

The Sleeping Man by rubys polaroid

It’s something common to all men, it comes naturally and it’s very demanding. It gives signs but sometimes it catches you unawares and that can be very dangerous.
I’m doing a double post for 2 of my favorite WordPress challenges; WPC and Cee’s BW Challenge.

How’s your week going and has sleep ever caught you with your head down… literally 🙂 .

Thursday Fashion: David Tlale

Morning guys, and how is your week going? Did you stop by for some lovely music on my post yesterday, if you didn’t you can take a quick look HERE.
This post has been languishing in my draft box since January…. i know, terrible right?
The second part in my David Tlale Fashion Collection exhibited at last year’s GTB FASHION WEEKEND. So here it is in all its monochrome splendour. I’m biased to any cool looking BW scheme but this is taking a cool mix to a whole new level of luxury.

Enjoy.

P.S – You can check out the first part of his show with this link – DAVID TLALE 01

WPC: Graceful Models

This week GRACE and its entourage feelings of elegance and effortlessness are on display in the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge.
  1. having or showing grace or elegance.

It’s a quality that’s not limited to humans, Mother Nature has badges in that dept especially with her array of beautiful birds, insects and mammals. Today i focus on the Fashion World, Models are taught to walk and exude effortless grace all the while dressed in expensive wear and crazy high heels. I don’t know how they do it but it’s always a beauty to behold.

This is from last year’s GTB Fashion Weekend Runway Show which showcased 10 Fashion Designers, in total. The line up included 2 Nigerians – Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi and Ejiro Amos Tafiri, Adama Paris (Senegalese), Taibo Bacar (Mozambican), David Tlale (South African), Julien Macdonald (Welsh).
This is a 2nd in my series of posts from that tightly packed weekend. Here’s a link to the first 🙂 – GTB FSHN WKND 1.

I feel they where beautiful and graceful strutting down the catwalk both male and female models. Does their effortless poise come through the pictures?

It’s Not This Time of Year Without…Fashion Shows

It’s Not This Time of Year Without…Fashion Shows and lots of it. Now is the time Fashion Houses, and the industry pump out Spring/Summer Collections. What’s In verses What’s Out, on every fashionista’s mind is did my favorite trend of the year make it into next years trends and what’s new?
I picked 2 silhouette shots taken during the just concluded GTB Fashion Weekend, David Tlale’s Collection was on show and i’ll be sharing my shots of that on Thursday on this blog. On a more quiet note my birthday was on Thursday and it was pretty quiet….*crickets chirping*…very quiet, i guess that’s what happens if it falls in between Monday and Thursday it naturally moves over to the weekend.

Hers’s to a wonderful weekend, and check out the link to see more entries of this Photo Challenge.

WPC: Night Magic

Make Magic!!! Create beauty in ways to inspire the mind..what about putting out all the lights and leaving your mind with endless possibilities?
That is what i try to achieve with this week’s shot, it’s literally a shot in the dark(lol) of a night-time barber shop under a huge umbrella. A quick set up but in pitch darkness its an island of light, i almost missed this shot contemplating where or not to take it i’m so glad i raise my hands to take the shot.
