Natural Monday: Soul Silence

Framed Sunset by rubys polaroid

Silence doesn’t have a sound, it’s the absence of sound. Sounds define our world, the wind rushing through car horns blaring on the street. The ever present background hum of voices, sound is everywhere but sometimes your ears go silent not because the world is silent but your soul is crying so loud for what it has lost every other sound gets drowned out.

Framed Sunset

Took this shot 2 days before the New Year, the sun was setting and it felt like the year was saying goodbye. The dusty air and cold haze acted like a blanket for the sun, and this was the only peek i had of the one of the last sunsets of 2017. Lots of wishful thinking went on in 2017 for me but i’ll try to make the most of this year (hopefully) and not spend it dreaming like last year.

WPC: Lightning Glow

Lightning Bolt by rubys polaroid

Morninggggggggg 😀 ,

I know it’s Monday but cheer up, it’s just for today……..and then the rest of your life (-__-). Today i’m focusing on something else asides the day, WPC over the weekend gave a theme for the Photo Challenge; GLOW.
Most photographers time their shots for early morning or late evening to get soft warm diffused light on their subject but that’s not the only time nature glows. It glows during a thunderstorm as well.

I got 2 beautiful shots of Lightning cracking through the skies last week and after looking at in on my laptop screen, i noticed they make the sky glow but in a vastly different way.
Do you agree or not?

WPC: Human Scale

Savannah Thatch Bar LCC By rubys polaroid

Happy Monday Morning 🙂
….not exactly what most people are feeling right now but One great thing about it is it comes only once a week, thank God for little mercies. .lol.
My WordPress Photo Challenge post today is on SCALE. Seems simple enough but it’s one secret ingredient to a good picture becoming great, that element of human scale.
It’s simply putting a human subject in frame to better tell your viewer how big, wide or otherwise tall your subject is.
Even on instagram, beautiful landscape shots have someone sitting backing you in the foreground and thus you appreciate how huge the mountains or how high up they took the pic and it gives depth as well.

I picked 3 images of different scenarios to show, no matter the context a human figure always makes a picture more relatable.

Lagos Lagoon Lights by rubys polaroid

Morning Guys? 😀 Been a while hasn’t it but first…..

Happy Independence Day Nigeria (it’s on Oct 1st but better late than never

.…now back to the post. Took a much needed blog break for about 3 weeks, didn’t post anything except read articles and posts from around the blogsphere. Creative Burn-Outs are real and a break is a good idea to ease up and get back into it.

So……today i’m posting on this week’s WPC topic: WINDOWS ;what do you see through yours?
Our eyes are windows to our souls and vice versa, so it’s also true that the photos we take and create are windows into our minds. My long exposure shoots are of the Lagos Lagoon the night before a morning rainstorm. The clouds are low and the lagoon glassy, mirroring the sky and city lights.

What interesting sight have you seen of recent that you would love to share ?

Natural Monday: Awaiting Sunset

Cloud Streaks by rubys polaroid

Morning guys 😀 ,had a wonderful weekend talking biz and life with good friends. The WP Challenge was to show waiting, but how to do photograph a moment like that in nature.
It really got me thinking, maybe the slow drag of clouds across the sky will show the slow passing of time and the approaching sunset i was waiting for.
Waiting along a debris strewn beach for a warm sunset.

A new week and more of the same work/job, it’s good to take a break once in awhile and do something totally different. So today i’ll show more pics from my adventure at a local tourist spot; Lekki Conservation Centre.

Natural Monday: Textured Seas

Warm waves by rubys polaroid

Some days are warm, slow and peaceful. Just like this . .

….And some days are rough, not the kind of days going to the beach comes to mind. The biting wind rushing into every gap between your clothes and skin isn’t heartwarming and neither is the tingling cold water but that’s life not every day is smooth sailing.
That is what gives life Texture.
The WordPress Photo Challenge this week is TEXTURE, find it all round you and say or show what it means.
