A quote from Andre Lorde goes thus “It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.” , we are so alike but very different and that thought stayed with me throughout my guided tour of this iconic landmark in Lagos. The Central Mosque, Lagos a massive religious building right smack in the middle of the ever bustling Lagos island.
A very beautiful and well crafted building, it’s the pride of the Islamic community in Lagos. Had a chance to go round in a tour organised by The British Council Lagos for the Open House Lagos 2017 event. Some very beautiful churches where also on the tour but we couldn’t access them at the time of the tour….. Weddings and more weddings but we could enter the mosque and that was great.
The order of things is a little different, the head must be covered for women and no shoes allowed inside. Yup, we moved through the entire building barefoot, it was nice though it meant no annoying footsteps echoing all over 🙂 .
I noticed a theme throughout the building and the BW image below shows it well, The Mosaic Theme. From the walls to the floor to the windows the pattern repeated itself in different forms.
I’m Christian and getting to see the inner workings of a grand mosque was a real eye opener, our buildings maybe different, our thinking different but underneath it all we all want the same thing. WPC: RELFECTING
It’s something common to all men, it comes naturally and it’s very demanding. It gives signs but sometimes it catches you unawares and that can be very dangerous.
I’m doing a double post for 2 of my favorite WordPress challenges; WPC and Cee’s BW Challenge.
How’s your week going and has sleep ever caught you with your head down… literally 🙂 .
Morning guys, and how is your week going? Did you stop by for some lovely music on my post yesterday, if you didn’t you can take a quick lookHERE. This post has been languishing in my draft box since January…. i know, terrible right? The second part in my David Tlale Fashion Collection exhibited at last year’s GTB FASHION WEEKEND. So here it is in all its monochrome splendour. I’m biased to any cool looking BW scheme but this is taking a cool mix to a whole new level of luxury.
P.S – You can check out the first part of his show with this link – DAVID TLALE 01
It’s in the holiday spirit that i’m posting a rain inspired shot. Its been raining alot in Lagos the past week one can’t help thinking they are showers of blessings to go along with the Easter tones of repentance and hope.
Photography is a thing of guts, sometimes you just know a shot will look good you might not know how good but sometimes you shot surprises you more than you could have thought. My shot at first glance was ordinary but when i converted it to Monochrome it really stood out. Have you been surprised by something unexpectedly good of recent?

Hallo peeps and welcome to a Black and White Tuesday.
I usually post my BW for Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge on Tuesdays. For a while now it’s been an alphabet run and i missed out on previous letter titles but this week to make up 🙂 i did a double L title..lool.
Not intentionally tho.
This image was a passing thought at the time, what i really wanted in my shot where the city lights on the water but after that i said why not lets do a long exposure shot as well with this former impedance as the main focus and it surprisingly turned out great. What do you think?
The feeling of safety is something everyone wants and in every possible way. When you are inside your home, you feel safe from the elements especially when a thunderstorm is brewing overhead. Security is something that’s high on people’s list; Job security, home security etc. This week the WPC is titled SECURITY. Show what represents security to you or what makes you feel loved and safe, i choose to show what we miss sometimes as we stay huddled in our safe houses away from the thunderstorms. Sometimes it’s good to step out of our comfort/secure zone and explore more of life and nature.
I stayed under cover (away from metal or trees), propped my camera and stood in the chilly wind hoping for a great catch of the night sky over my city; Lagos.
Before i begin with this week’s photo challenge let me say with a warm heart and lots of cheers to me
Happy Blog-Anniversary ❤
I got the message on my dashboard last night 🙂 , my blog hit 3 years TODAY!!!! (pops out the crystal water and KitKat chocolate bar ..lmao), it’s weird that it’s been so long and yet I’ve managed to persevere through on it. It just goes to show if you really love something, you’ll make time no matter the season of your life busy or not.
I present my take on the challenge by WPC titled ATOP. The splashes turned from simple to almost human like and desperate to escape the bowl. There’s a link down below to the Challenge page to see other cool posts.
Back to the topic at hand 🙂 , i was rudely inspired (yeah it’s possible (-__-) ) to learn flash photography. Yeah that means buying some more gear soon but i don’t mind so i decided to use what i had on hand to start. I didn’t want to do the whole wine glass thing, or fruit thing or different coloured water thing….oh no it’s not like they aren’t cool but i didn’t want to rehash the usual.
So you as the reader have a fun task to do? Guess what i dropped in the bowl to create these cool splash actions 😀 . Comment down below if you got an idea or if you have cool ideas of what i could try next.
The challenge topic is the letters C & D, anything or place starting with those letters. My pick is the letter D for DOVE 🙂 . This is a local pigeon specie in my area, and the full name is Laughing Dove Pigeon.
I took an even closer shot showing the head in detail – HERE.
